SI'S 6 STEPS TO
Create a 3d animated video
Telling a product’s story through 3D animation can be a daunting task. Our creative team makes it fun through our 6-step process. Please take a moment to move through our 3D process and learn how Sound Ideas can bring your product to life through 3D animation.

Stage 1
File validation
Our 3D team will run your engineering files (STP) through a multi-point 3D digital inspection. This step is crucial. It can shake out any questions or anomalies our team finds with the 3D model’s geometry. If we find anything, we will work with you to fix it. Upon conclusion of the file assessment, Sound Ideas will provide geometry screenshots to validate the files are ready to move into the next phase.

Style Guide
Do you have a vision of how your product should look? Or do you have no idea what to expect from a 3D rendering? The Style Guide is the first step in deciding the look and feel of your product. The creation and application of the textures, lighting and styling starts in this phase. Images are generated from different angles and environments, dropped into a Style Guide PDF, and then sent to you for review. It’s time to pay attention to how your products look and make any changes necessary to their visual appearance before starting the next phase.

Storyboard
A storyboard is an efficient, cost-effective document to cast the vision of your animated video to your team before moving into full 3D production. Our creative team sketches out key moments in the story to illustrate how the product moves and looks, supported with captions and directional text pertinent in conveying your message.

Playblast Render
With the storyboard approved, the motion journey begins. Our animators bring the motion explained in the storyboarding phase to life. This draft is sent to you as a grayscale video with no lighting or textures. This lets you focus on how the product moves, not what color it is or if it has the correct reflections or appropriate shadows in its environment. We may still be tweaking those parallel to the animation process to make sure they are just right.

Stage 5
Draft Render
Your product’s form has come to life through motion. Now it’s time to add the color, textures, and lighting, established in the “Style Guide” phase. All of the animation ingredients combine to the almost final video! Take your time to make adjustments if needed before our team send your project to the much anticipated final stage.
